Happy New Year!!

We made it! 2009 is over! What a fun year it's been. So much as happened... and yet we get to start over with new goals and new memories.

The holidays went so well for our little family. Our first Christmas and New Years together was so wonderful. Christmas morning we stayed home and opened presents just the three of us. Jason and I got some small things from each other, then some amazing things from our families. My parents got us a wii and Jason's parents got us a headboard for our bed that matched our other furniture. We went to visit the families and thank them. After that James and my sister Wendi treated Jason and I to a Christmas movie. The theater was packed, and even though we came a half hour early to get tickets they were sold out. We bought tickets for the next showing and began waiting in line. We were the third group into the theater and got awesome seats right in the center. We saw Sherlock Holmes. Jason and I really enjoyed it, but James and Wendi didn't as much. I guess it ruined the books. I'd never read them, so I thought the movie itself was great. It was a great and busy Christmas.

Then of course New Years was right around the corner. Jason and I went to his family's fondue party on New Years Eve. They always do an awesome meal that's really fun. They have fondue pots that are filled with oil and then you cook your own meat. Then everyone plays games and laughs. We stayed there until I was so tired I couldn't see straight. Then we went to my family to say a quick hello. They had fireworks and silly string all over once midnight hit! It was way fun. Then Jason and I headed home to our little apartment to catch some snoozing until it was time to get up and party some more. This year for New Years Day we decided to do another movie. We invited my Mom and Dad, which turned out really fun. We skipped out on the Layton crowd and went to see Avatar in IMAX 3d at Jordan Commons. We went to the first showing at 11:30am, but it was still completely sold out! Good thing I remembered to pick up tickets the night before! We were on the 2nd row, but it wasn't too bad. I still felt like we had awesome seats. The movie had some awesome graphics and a good story. It was worth seeing. After the movie we went to Chuck a Ramma and ate some lunch. It was fun to eat everything we wanted and talk about the movie. Nice and relaxed kind of holiday.

Jason and I were able to talk about some goals we have and set some new ones for 2010. We decided to read our scriptures and pray every night together. That was one we've worked on since we got married, but it's nice to continue pushing the small things. Next was of course supporting Jason in joining the military. He's decided to sign on to the marines as soon as he can make weight. He's already lost 20-30 pounds, but he needs to continue pressing on. If he keeps loosing as much as he is, he'll be ready to sign on in the first week of April. Our lease ends the end of April, so that's cutting it kinda close. But he's hoping to kick it up (even more) and make weight by the first of March. Lots of work to be done! We've also decided to get out of debt, including the $13000.00 I still owe on my car, and start saving for a house. We've decided to wait to have children until we can be in a more stable living situation- house and income to support it. Jason and I also want to travel a bit before starting up the family. Since he's joining the military that won't be an issue at all! Marines are all based on the coasts. So we couldn't stay here very long, anyway. Other than that, we hope to be able to get our educations back up and running. Jason's still doing a few online classes, but my financial aid was cut until I can pass two classes on my own dollar. Which I can't do at this point. The military has some awesome programs to help pay for education, so hopefully that will help. Lots of goals to be working on. :)

(Megan did this awesome thing on her blog where she listed some things from 2009 that had happened. I thought it was such a good idea I wanted to do one, too!) 2009 was a great year- We had some big things happen including...

* We got married, of course! July 8th. Our 6 month anniversary is this Friday.

* We said farewell to our sweet Lady puppy that passed away July 23. We buried her in Keri's backyard and cried a lot. She will certainly be missed. She was a special member of our family for many years.

* We sent Trenton out on a mission to Cape Verde Africa in January. He's nearly half way through now!

* Tyler went through basic training for the National Guard and made it out alive!

* Dallin hit his one year mark for his mission this year in May. He's serving in Korea. He'll be home in 5 months.

* Jason and I both went through a semester of school at Weber.

* Jason insists that I put that I started to play World of Warcraft on here. Guess it was a big event for him.

* This is the first year since I graduated from high school that I've only worked one place. America First.

* Daddy got a new puppy, Daisi, that certainly keeps us all on our toes.

* I changed jobs from tellering to member service. I also got a pay raise for the move.

* We had Crystal and Jeff visit us for a few weeks in the summer. It was so wonderful to see them!

* We finally got a wii!

Hooray! We're looking forward to a great year in 2010. Thanks to everyone for being such wonderful friends and family! We couldn't have made this past year such a good one without you!

  1. What a fun holiday season for you guys!! We saw Jason with Spencer at the mall on the 23rd! It was good to see them. Jason said that he is trying to get together a system link party together soon, which were very glad to hear about. He should add Magic to it, too.:-D
I must commend you both for waiting to have kids till your more "prepared". We are doing the same thing. It's one of my pet peeves that people have kids when they don't have the means to care for them. Yay for being smart!!
