Thoughts from a cashier...

I haven't been cashiering very long, but it's not hard to come up with some thoughts after a few rough customers. So, in case you didn't know:

*Don't make us lift YOUR heavy product. (Yes, 24 count boxes of soda count!) You want them, you can haul them. Or better yet, leave them in the cart and let us scan them for you!

*Say hi when we notice you. Just because you like to be ignored doesn't mean we do.

*Get off your phone when you're ready to pay. It's difficult to help you if problems come up and you're talking with someone invisible.

*Control your children. If they want a candy bar (and they all seem to) that's fine, but don't allow them to tear down the display and throw the candy bars across the scanner. Guess who gets to clean THAT up!

*If you have special requests, (like bag the milk, or put certain items separate, just ask us nicely. We're happy to do it your way. Except when we don't know what your way is and you get angry because we couldn't read your mind. Go figure.

*Yes, sometimes the card readers don't work. It happens. Sometimes it's the card, sometimes it's the reader. When we ask if we can run the card for you, don't look at us as if we're trying to steal your money. Honestly people, Walmart pays us plenty. (Okay, maybe not, but still...)

*Bottom lime, we're people too. Be nice.
